What is this 'Payment Gateway' you've been hearing?
According to wiki, a payment gateway is a merchant service provided by an e-commerce application service provider that authorizes credit card or direct payments processing for e-businesses, online retailers, bricks and clicks, or traditional brick and mortar.
In a nutshell, if you run an e-businesses that accepts money digitally (credit/debit card and fpx transfer), a payment gateway helps you with that.

1. Registered with bank negara
For security assurance, find a payment gateway provider approved by the Bank Negara Malaysia. Check list of regulatees approved by BNM, under Registered Business (Merchant Acquiring Services) > Non-banks.

2. Logic annual fees & transaction rates
If it’s free or too good to be true, it probably have something hidden. Read your terms carefully! Choosing an expensive yearly fee, and you’ll end up paying more than you should, every year! Avoid Payment Gateway Provider that operates on a server that do not have an assurance and are non-certified. Check this to ensure security and that they are free from hackers attacks. Make sure your provider are PCI-DSS certified and have a https authentication (when reaching the payment page, your URL will turn green! - also it will have a lock icon, which indicate it is secure).
